***TIME*** Contest WINNERS! Plus New Contest!

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 7, 2010, 1:16 AM

The ***TIME*** Contest winners have finally been decided and boy, if it wasn't difficult to judge! Because I love clocks so much I just wanted to choose them all! The entries were all brilliant! Hubby and I really enjoyed working our way through them. So, a big thank you to everyone who entered and spread the word. Huge  to you all.

But, alas, there can only be three winners, so without further ado I shall announce them...

First Prize -

12 months DA subscription -

I thought the detail and variety in this was extremely well done, and the fact that the clocks are all buried in the sands of time added the perfect finishing touch. Huge congrats to :iconspring-sky:

Second Prize -

3 months DA subscription -

Again, lots of detail went into this one, and what drew me was the combination of time and nature. I love the ivy and all the shades of green. Congrats to :iconxantipa2:

Third Prize -

1 months DA subscription -

Third prize was chosen by my husband. He is a bit of an ole softie and was drawn to the love theme of this one. He also liked that it covered so many different art medias. So congrats to :icondragondew:

So, I'm afraid time had ended for the ***Time*** contest, although I am sure I will repeat the theme some time in the future because I enjoyed it so much.

NEW CONTEST!!!

CONTEST THEME...

****NATURE RECLAIMS****

We may think we are the dominant ones on this planet but left to her own devises, nature will always break through our barriers of bricks and mortar and reclaim her land. I have always loved the atmosphere of wild and overgrown places, be them rooms, buildings, objects, gardens, landscapes...anything really.

So, basically, the requirement is wild and overgrown but I will leave you to interpret and translate it how you wish.

All mediums are accepted - photography, photo manipulation, traditional art, digital art, fractal, poetry, prose, sculpture and crafts.

More details will be added soon.

Rules

Entries will be added to the Entries Folder (link to be added below asap) as they are submitted.

Please NOTE me with your entry.

I would appreciate it if you would also mention that your work is an entry to the Nature Reclaims contest with its comments.

I will accept NEW WORK ONLY (started from today's date - 6th Jan), and only one entry per artist.

Closing Date

The contest ends on the 30th June, giving you plenty of time to submit your entry.

Prizes

First prize - a year's DA subscription.
Second prize - a 3 month DA subscription.
Third prize - a 1 month DA subscription.

My hubby and I are the only judges. We prefer to keep it simple. :)

Me and Photography...

I know very little about photography and use a rather cheap Vivitar with a wonky shutter. Basically, I point and click like a woman possessed and hope for the best. This suits me fine. Then, I like to try to turn the mundane into something magical with a slight tweaking of colour and light. Nothing major but enough to make it look a little otherworldly. Enough to make you believe that it could be another time, another place...another world...:)

Things I Especially lurve...

My husband, Immediate Music, TOPIARY, anything magical, dreamy or enchanting. Hugging trees. Mazes and labyrinths of every and any kind, cats (especially tabby and grey ones), mirrors (not in a vain sense but playing around with reflections...creating mirror worlds!), nature, Red Dwarf (especially Rimmer!), birds, squirrels, hedgehogs, cute rodents like mice, rats and voles, toadstools, TREES!!!, forests, woods, old keys, old pocket watches, waterfalls & streams, Lara Croft, Twin Peaks, surreal and fantasy art and manips, Escher's Relativity, J. CONTEST...

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour...

William Blake

This is one of my favourite quotes and it has inspired the theme of my latest contest...

CONTEST THEME...

****TIME****

Make of it what you will, although the featuring of clocks, hourglasses/sandtimers, sundials, and similar time pieces in your work is prefered. It is NOT essential though. Any medium is accepted - manipulation, photography, traditional art, collage, poetry, literature, abstract, digital art, 3D, pixel art, jewellery, artisan crafts and sculpture.

Rules

Entries will be added to the Entries Folder (link below) as they are submitted. Please NOTE me with your entry. I would appreciate it if you would also mention that your work is an entry to the Time contest with its comments. I will accept NEW WORK ONLY and only one entry per artist.

Closing Date

You have plenty of time. The contest ends at the very end of the year. Midnight on 31st December 2009.

Prizes

First prize - a year's DA subscription.
Second prize - a 3 month DA subscription.
Third prize - a 1 month DA subscription.

My hubby and I are the only judges. We prefer to keep it simple. :)

Thank you so much to :iconcolt51: for making this fab stamp for the contest -

ENTRIES...

All new entries will be added here from now on - [link] - so I will no longer be updating this journal with each new entry. New entries are being added to it often so be sure to check it out if you want to keep up to date. :)

News article added here - [link] - please fave it to spread the word!

My husband, TOPIARY, anything magical, dreamy or enchanting. Some of my Favourite Quotes...

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Frodo:
I wish the ring had never come to me.
I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times.
But that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide is what to do
with the time that is given to us.
