The Wonder of the Imagination...

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 13, 2008, 11:42 AM
:bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletgreen:

I was thinking the other day, (as you do!;)), how very grateful I am to have such a vivid imagination. I'm always daydreaming, even now at 36, and I refuse to grow up and act my age, always trying to channel my dreams into my writing, photography and sculpting. I realised that I simply wouldn't be me without the dreamer in me. It is a part of who I am. Anyhoo, my pondering led me to some great quotes covering the imagination…so I thought I’d share -

***

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities. ~Theodore Geisel

***

You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. ~Jack London

***

Sometimes imagination pounces; mostly it sleeps soundly in the corner, purring. ~Leslie Grimutter

***

Creativity represents a miraculous coming together of the uninhibited energy of the child with its apparent opposite and enemy, the sense of order imposed on the disciplined adult intelligence. ~Norman Podhoretz

***

They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. ~Edgar Allan Poe, "Eleonora"

***

I think the world really boils down to two types of people - those who see shapes in cloud formations, and those who just see clouds. ~Danzae Pace

***

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom the emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause and stand wrapped in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed. ~Albert Einstein

***

When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge. ~Tuli Kupferberg

:D

So keep on creating y’all…be it in your writing, photography, sculpting, painting…whatever! Keep dreamin’ those dreams!

P.S...As always, thanks for the interest in my work. For the comments, favs and watches. I try to thank everyone individually but if I can't for any reason, I do so here. :) :blowkiss:

Some of my Favourite Quotes...

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Everything begins and ends, at exactly the right time and place...

Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour

I could never stand to be around someone so practical and grounded :D Yay for whimsy, I always say, and yay too for long flights of fancy!

I had to write a stuffy introduction to my graduate thesis, but I managed to sneak this line in ;) -- "An adult who still engages in play then earns the disapproving frowns of other adults, “sensible” people like the grown-ups in J. M. Barrie’s “;Peter Pan” or the elder siblings in C. S. Lewis’ “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” Of course, that was before all the Pevensie children found themselves walking past the old coats into the winter of Narnia."

Here then is to walking into Narnia, and other uncharted lands of dreaming, especially the ones you share with us so readily in this place :) Cheers and have a great weekend!
